DOLLS HELP YOUNGSTERS IN HOSPITAL
Members from Preston Village and Ovingdean WIs have made calico dolls for the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton. The dolls are all deliberately left blank so the young patients can draw on faces and clothes to personalise them and they will be allowed to keep the dolls and take them home. The idea is to use the dolls to demonstrate some of the procedures the children have to go through, such as being given an injection, having some blood taken or getting their blood pressure checked. Some children can get very upset, so having the dolls to distract them and help explain what is happening should really make a difference. Hospital play specialist Kate Woodhams said "we are very grateful to the WIs for helping us out and we are sure the dolls are going to be a great success".

VISIT TO YESTERDAY’S WORLD, BATTLE
As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, 21 of our members went by coach to visit Yesterday’s World at Battle.
On arrival we were served coffee and cake and then spent time viewing the exhibition of British History containing over 150,000 nostalgic exhibits with life-size street scenes and shop displays.
After lunch our driver took us through the countryside where the bluebells were in bloom, to arrive at Firle & Beddingham WI for a delicious afternoon tea served by their members. We arrived back in Brighton in the late afternoon after a very enjoyable day.
