About Us
New members and visitors are always welcome.
We are the Playden WI, founded in 1918.
We have our own WI Hall Post code TN31 7PU and it has parking and disabled access.
We are a rural group with 28 members. We are a lively, friendly group and have a traditional outlook.
What we do
For our 100th Birthday, we had many forms of celebration, including a river trip, a visit to the local cinema, lunch in a restaurant, and a party.
This year there are a variety of speakers including “Mailbags and Porridge” –a prison teacher, a Local Author, and Tasting English Cheeses.
Regular Activities include Outings, Knit and Natter /Craft, Book Club; a Curry & Quiz evening.
Some good talks we had were What makes a Superstar, the History of Punch and Judy, Cabaret Nostalgic.
We usually have a Fundraising event for Playden WI and the Hall.
Members are involved in supporting local activities, e.g. the local hospital / local day centres and community activities /events.
