These are some of the green hearts made by members who came to Hailsham to take part in the Drop In days making Green Hearts as part of the Climate Change campaign. Everyone made two or three hearts from the amazing stash of free materials supplied by members of WIST (WI Advisers) to take back and inspire their own WIs.
Up and down the country, groups of WI Women are getting together for well-being weekends in the countryside.
As part of our East Sussex Centenary Celebrations we’d love to give you the opportunity of being part of this exciting venture.
What is this all about?
We are hoping to hold a women only outdoor camping and activity event in the beautiful Ashdown Forest (now if the idea of camping horrifies you – there will be indoor accommodation on site).
Similar successful events have been held in other parts of the country include ‘Tea and Tents’ in Sherwood Forest and TWICE in Essex. More are starting up all the time! Our weekend would include taster sessions and activities tailored to meet your needs as well as a great social get together.
We hope so! However, we can’t do this without your help. We must have a group of like-minded women to make this happen. So we need your enthusiasm, your ideas and practical help.
A bit more detail.
We are thinking of using Blacklands Camping and Activity Centre near East Grinstead (the Tea and Tents uses a similar venue in Nottingham).
We envisage a Friday evening to Sunday morning duration, with day visitors attending. Ideally we’d like to hold the event in summer 2018 (sounds a long way off but there’s a lot to do!)The precise dates are negotiable.
Looking at how other events are organised it is clear that we will need a range of skills and expertise! We have already floated the idea past a few local WI’s and it is obvious that the interest is there!
This is your chance to get involved… get in touch with Dorothy Proietti or Steph Gaunt through ESFWI HQ by phone 01323 442592 or email email@example.com
The Federation’s Annual Meeting will once again be held at the Winter Gardens, Eastbourne. On Wednesday 29 March 2017 from 1.30 – 4.30 pm (doors open at 11.30am)
Our main speaker this year will be RUTH GOODMAN. Ruth is a well-known TV Historian and a prolific author specialising in social and domestic history. Most recently Ruth has worked on BBC’s ‘Full Steam Ahead’ and before that shows such as Tudor Monastery Farm, Secrets of the Castle, Victorian Farm and Wartime Farm.
Please note that contrary to that previously advertised, Peter Field, the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex will not be giving a talk at the ESFWI AM, but a Deputy Lord Lieutenant will be giving a presentation on the role, history and importance of this position and how community groups benefit. We apologise for this but we can still look forward to a very interesting and enjoyable day.
