Where we meet
Ashburnham Village Hall, Brownbread Street, TN33 9LW
When to come along
3rd Monday of every month at 7.30pm, except December
We are an informal village WI who aim to make friends and have fun while learning something new. Our members have a wide age range and variety of interests. Since being re-formed in 2007 we have launched other village groups which our members contribute to. We offer a warm welcome to visitors and new members – do come along to give us a try.
What we do
At our monthly meetings we have a mixture of speakers and hands-on activities. Members have enjoyed willow sculpture and pumpkin carving and in 2019 we’re going to try hula hooping and making skincare products. We have enjoyed talks on topics ranging from Antarctica to Medical Detection Dogs and Romney Wool.
Tea and cake and a chat is an important part of these meetings which have a relaxed atmosphere.
We have a summer birthday party, and a Christmas celebration meal. For our 10th Birthday we made a banner reflecting our different interests.
Our WI stall at the village country fair and flower show is always popular, and we hold a fund-raising event for a local charity each year.
