About us and what we do
Colemans Hatch WI was founded in 1918, and at present we have more than 50 members. We are a traditional village WI and I suspect if members were asked about our highlights our afternoon teas with homemade sandwiches and cakes that we have at every meeting would be high on the list.
At our monthly meetings we have enjoyed a wide variety of speakers and broadened our knowledge about Polar Bears, Bees, Bunny Girls, History, and Bags and Hats. Barbara Stevens was a particularly dynamic speaker, and we were all very amused by the slides of her participation in calendars of a Calendar Girl nature.
Recent outings have been to Brighton Pavilion, the Mormon Temple in Lingfield, Lancing College and the Highways England Control Centre at Godstone. A theatre trip to Calendar Girls is organised for 2019.
We hold Dabble Days for craft enthusiasts to learn new skills.
Other events include a Christmas Lunch, Christmas Party, a Supper Evening and a summer garden meeting. Last year’s centenary meeting was a very special catered afternoon tea with glasses of bubbly.
New members and visitors always welcome.
